I come from a family of artists and designers, but never felt that creative drive until I discovered metal. I was introduced to traditional beading, but after a short while I was discouraged because it seemed my work could only be as good as the beads I could afford, which wasn't much. One night, I stumbled on a box of nails, and decided to try to make a chain out of them. I knew absolutely nothing about metal, and I had a lot of learning to do and a lot of tools to try before I was able to bend steel. Over the years I gravitated to scrap yards, because I found the materials there inspiring, and cheap! Today, I primarily work with metals such as copper and brass, because they are softer, and so beautiful!
